artist’s statement

To me, the essence of abstract art is freedom: freedom of thought, freedom of emotion, freedom of expression. My painting process is intuitive and spiritual in nature, deeply informed and guided by my energetic connection with the Universe. I am also a Reiki Master and energy worker, and I infuse each piece with intentional energy throughout its creation (if you are interested, you can read more about my energy work practice here).

I consider myself not so much the creator of these works as a facilitator, a channel through which they bring themselves into being. Each piece evolves layer by layer, in its own time and in its own way, as I strive to remove my preconceptions about what a painting could or should be as completely as possible. Whenever someone asks me what a certain piece is about, my favorite response is to ask: What do you see? What does it mean to you?

I strongly believe that art is here to inspire us to express our most authentic selves into the world. I hope to create works that inspire you to stay in touch with your own intuition and reflect upon the spiritual currents of your existence.

My Artistic Journey

For as long as I can remember, I have been an artist at heart. Being a painter has been a dream of mine since early childhood, when I idolized Mary Cassatt (see me dressed as her for Halloween!) and other painters.

As a young girl, I lived deep within my imagination, and paint and canvas quickly became one of the most natural channels through which I expressed what I felt and saw in that whimsical mental space into this material world.

I was lucky enough to have parents who supported my interest, and I began painting with acrylics in elementary school. I’ve included three of my childhood paintings below.

I took a break from painting for almost a decade through middle school, high school, and early college, exploring other avenues of creative expression in writing, theater, and academia. My love for paint and canvas was reignited in the summer of 2021 and hasn’t abated since. Now I count myself as one of the luckiest people in the world that I get to spend so much of my time engaged in the creative work I love most: watching paintings evolve into being!

Thank you for being here and for reading a little bit about me and my artistic journey so far. Your support and interest mean the world to me, and I hope to stay connected with you moving forward!

Please reach out to me directly any time via email with questions, comments, or just to say hello!

In gratitude,
